Introducing Free Legal Self-Help Webinars from the Harris County Robert W. Hainsworth Law Library

The Harris County Robert W. Hainsworth Law Library is pleased to announce that we are starting a series of free legal self-help webinars presented by practicing attorneys in Texas. These webinars are primarily for pro se litigants, who are appearing in court cases without an attorney, and they will cover a variety of topics.

Our first topic will be “Family Law Basics” on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. This webinar will be presented by Maria Lowry, Co-Chair of the Houston Bar Association Law Library Committee. She practices family law and probate law at the Law Office of Maria Lowry, PLLC.

This program will introduce the audience to common family law vocabulary and answer the following questions:

  1. Can I get child support without being divorced? Should I just go to the Attorney General?

  2. How do I file a case?

  3. How do I get someone served?

  4. How do I amend a petition?

  5. How do I respond to a petition?

  6. What if my husband is not my child's father?

  7. Conservatorship or guardianship?

  8. How do I get a protective order?

In addition, this program will be translated into Spanish and Vietnamese in the future. To register for the webinar, please click here.
