More Rental Assistance on the Way

Comenzando el lunes, 15 de febrero, el Departamento de Vivienda y Asuntos Comunitarios de Texas estará iniciando un nuevo programa de asistencia de alquiler, el Programa de Asistencia para el Pago de Rentas para habitantes de Texas afectados por el Coronavirus. El portal web y la línea telefónica estará aceptando aplicaciones a las 8 a.m. tiempo central. El programa estará asistiendo a los propietarios y también, a los inquilinos, y estarán asistiendo con pagos de alquiler pasados y futuros. Beginning on Monday, February 15, the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs is launching a new rental assistance program, the Texas Coronavirus Relief Bill Rental Assistance Program. The web portal and accompanying telephone line will begin accepting applications at 8 a.m. Central Time. The program will serve both landlords and tenants and can assist with past and future rent payments. To qualify for assistance, households must show: an income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income, previous qualification for unemployment benefits or financial hardship due to the pandemic, and a risk of homelessness or unsafe or unhealthy living conditions. Please see the website for more information about what you should do before the February 15 launching, how payments will be made, what you need to qualify, and how applicants will be prioritized. Interested parties can either apply using the online application or by calling 1-833-9TX-RENT (1-833-989-7368). The telephone call center will be open Monday-Saturday 8 a.m.-6 p.m. CST.
