Harris County Community Services

September 22, 2022 Heather Holmes

The website for the Harris County Community Services Department (HC CSD) provides information about a wide variety of social support programs available to residents of Harris County. Primarily, the programs are designed to facilitate access to affordable housing and transportation, while also expanding opportunities for social connection and community enrichment. The HC CSD and its affiliated websites “uplift communities and…deliver programs aimed at assisting with rent, mortgage, and utility costs.” Additional programs are available for Harris County residents who are experiencing (or are at risk of experiencing) homelessness, those in need of disaster recovery resources, immigrants, and veterans.

Some programs of particular interest include the following:

  • Bereavement Services (Indigent Burial Services)

  • Emergency Utility Assistance

  • Rental/Mortgage Assistance

  • Transit Services

  • ADA Paratransit

  • Harris County Rides

  • Non-Emergency Medical Transit

  • Park & Ride

  • Transit Tracking
