November is National Adoption Month, and the Harris County Robert W. Hainsworth Law Library is celebrating with these four special events.

Free Texas CLE with Ethics Credit: Adoption & Family Formation in the Pride Community

Join us on Tuesday, November 1, from 3-4 p.m. for a webinar called, “Adoption & Family Formation in the Pride Community.” Presenter deborah lawson, attorney-at-law, will guide attendees through the labyrinth of Adoption 101—from petition to final order in simple, easy to follow steps—while facing the ethical considerations of the modern family, including joint representation, platonic and poly parenting, age, biology, geography, a child’s choice, and so much more. She will also provide a high-level overview of common Assisted Reproductive Technologies.

CLE Credit: Texas - 1 hour MCLE, 0.5 hours Ethics

The “Heart Gallery Houston” is a photo exhibit of children in foster care who are available for adoption. The exhibit will be available for viewing in the Law Library Oct. 31 - Nov. 30, 2022.

According to its website, “Heart Gallery Houston is a powerful, traveling photographic exhibit created to ignite awareness and help find forever families for children in foster care.” Heart Gallery Houston is just one of four programs provided by BEAR…A Resource for CPS Kids, a non-profit organization that works to provide hope and help to abused, neglected and at-risk children.

BEAR Necessities Drive for Children in Foster Care

The Law Library is pleased to host a #BEARCares Drive to collect supplies for children who are under the supervision of Child Protective Services (CPS). The Law Library will be collecting items inside the library from Oct. 31 - Nov. 23, 2022.
