This spring, the Harris County Law Library is excited to welcome two outstanding interns from Rice University. We’re delighted to spotlight their experiences and contributions to the team so far.
Meet Alisha!
Hi everyone! My name is Alisha Hou, and I’m a student at Rice University studying Political Science and Psychology, with a minor in Politics, Law, and Social Thought. I’m interested in pursuing law school and becoming a lawyer, with particular interests in international law and criminal justice. During my time at the Harris County Law Library, I’ve been helping with a variety of projects behind the scenes, including compiling statistics, conducting research, creating presentations, and supporting different outreach and administrative initiatives. These experiences have given me a deeper appreciation for how legal information is organized and shared with the public.
What I love most about the Harris County Law Library is that it’s such an incredible resource for the community. It provides access to legal information for anyone who needs it, whether someone is researching their rights, navigating the legal system, or simply looking to learn more. As someone interested in a future legal career, it’s inspiring to see how the library helps make the law more accessible and understandable for everyone. Working here has also strengthened my interest in law by showing me how important public access to legal knowledge is for promoting fairness and justice. I hope more people, especially younger generations, become aware of resources like the Harris County Law Library and the valuable support it offers.
Outside of work and school, I love exploring new restaurants and cafés around Houston, as well as going thrifting and finding unique clothing pieces.
